Custom Order Shoes for Girls

Whoa! I have not posted in a lonnnng time. The Fall semester at school kept me too busy to post. But, I have been taking pictures of all of the shoes I've painted, the food I've cooked, and the new makeup I've bought. So, I'll probably post a ton of stuff today.

Since the Dali shoes, I have had a nice stream of cute girl orders and fun guy orders. Here are some of the shoes I've painted for girls...

I painted these for a good friend of mine. She wanted something to represent her love of writing. So I painted a girl writing out a Saul Williams' poem.

I also had a customer order two different pairs of Nightmare Before Christmas shoes. Her favorite color is purple, so we made the roses on both pairs purple. I had a lot of fun painting these. :)

Continuing with the cute movie theme. Ha ha. I painted a pair of Peter Pan inspired shoes for another friend of mine. And, the coolest thing is what she told me happened when she wore them:

"I was at Walt Disney World and participated in the Indiana Jones show. The guy leading the show made very nice compliments over the microphone to the audience about my Peter Pan shoes. Awesome Disney publicity for Vans-Gogh? I think so. :) "

Persistence of Memory Shoes

Ah! These were so scary to tackle! Ha ha. I was really nervous when I got this order, because I really respect Dali's work. I even visited his home in Spain which has been converted into a museum. It was amazing! Now that the order is complete, I'm glad that I decided to go for it. It's nice to see that I didn't totally fail. ha ha. I hope you like them! I had fun painting them, and the customer was wayyy happy. :)

Day of the Dead Shoes

A good friend of mine was looking through our photo albums on Facebook and fell in love with a pair of Day of the Dead Skull shoes that my brother painted a while back. I usually don't duplicate designs we've done in the past, but since the design was new to me, I decided to give it a shot. I'm glad I did! They were intricate and difficult to paint. Ha ha. But, I felt satisfied with how they came out after the tedious hours of painting.

I thought the quotation she chose was a nice finishing touch for the shoes.

I've gotten some nice comments about them on the Facebook page. What do you think?

Vans-Gogh: Hand-Painted EVERYTHING!

I recently got an order for a backpack and I am soooo excited to be branching out into more than just shoes. I absolutely love the design that she chose too! Ha ha. It was cupcakes! Loooooooove. She was happy with how it came out, and I had some much fun painting the cute, colorful cupcakes. :)

Hopefully more people will want backpacks, purses, etc in the future! Would you be interested?

Handbags for Hope

One of my lovely customers referred me to this wonderful charity auction hosted by the South Carolina Ovarian Cancer Foundation. The Fourth Annual Purse Auction for Handbags for Hope will take place on Sept 23, 2010. I was honored to be asked to paint a bag for the auction. This was my contribution to the cause.

I also donated one of my Bagazine purses.

If any one is interested in donating a purse, the deadline is August 12. Visit Handbags for Hope for more information on the charity event and on purse donations.

Please help this wonderful cause!

My Recent Shoe Adventures

For a blog named after my shoes, I have been neglecting to post about them recently! Ha ha. Oh well. Here it goes... I recently painted a pair of beautiful butterfly shoes for an old friend of mine. They were rough but sweet... cute but tough. Ha ha. I really like how they came out, but, unfortunately the photos didn't quite do them justice...

I also painted a pair of Comedy & Tragedy shoes that I was also pretty pleased with. I added in a quotation on the sides from Judy Garland, his favorite actress. I think the colors pop really well, and even the tragedy side makes me smile. ha ha.

What do you think of these new shoes?

Another Pair of HYSTERICgirl Inspired Shoes

So, a friend of mine wanted something pretty with sunflowers and a Marilyn Monroe quotation. So, I thought.... what's prettier than Alice Le's model portraits? NOTHING. Ha ha. So I drew inspiration from own of her sketches, threw in some sunflowers, and let people know that if you: "Give a girl the right shoes she can conquer the world." Ha ha.

I love them! And, so did Olivia, my adorable customer. :)

Probably My Favorite Custom Order

So, almost two weeks ago I painted my favorite order ever. ha ha. The customer actually just told me that her favorite color was orange, and that she wanted me to do whatever I felt like. So, I decided to paint shoes based off of my new inspiration, Alice Le of http://hystericgirl.blogspot.com

When I chanced upon Alice's blog, I immediately fell in love with everything she does. I can only dream of becoming 1/12942487234328479 as talented as her. And... anyway. I tried my hand at painting a pairs of shoes inspired by one of her paintings. (I really hope she doesn't mind! It was totally a tribute to her!)

Thank you, Alice Le for being such an inspiration! All of your work is absolutely beautiful!

Fantasy Shoes FTW

So, I've recently gotten two fantasy book themed shoe orders.

The first was a mix between the George Mason University logo and Harry Potter. It featured the Deathly Hollows symbol, the Mason shooting star, the Lightning bolt font, and a skyline of Hogwarts. Overall, I was happy with how they turned out. And the customer, Sean, said they were exactly what he wanted.

The second pair was inspired by The Lord of the Rings. It was a real challenge because of the faces and the elfish writing... But, I'm very proud of them!

Overall, I think these are fun and since they made the customers happy, I'm happy. :)

New Custom Orders

For the past two weeks, I've been way psyched (and busy) because of all of the custom orders coming in! It's been so fun getting to paint so many shoes, and so far, all of the customers have loved their shoes. :)

I wasn't able to post all of the orders while I was getting them... But, I'll go ahead and post a few of them now.

Meg, a dancer, ordered a pair of shoes featuring her favorite color, lavender, and dancers' silhouettes. When Meg received her shoes, she sent me a message saying: "I got the shoes this morning. OhmyGod they're so comfortable and they look amazing! Thanks so much Angelika!!!! :D"

I also had a ridiculously fun time painting Panda shoes for Conler. I think they came out really cute! My favorite part is probably the baby panda nuzzling in her mama's lap. They're definitely one of my favorite pairs so far. He's so obsessed with Pandas, and now I am too! Ha ha. When he saw the shoes he said: "I'm so blown away! those are absolutely amazing."

It's been a lot of hard work, but I am feeling so creative and happy. It feels like there's been a spark lit inside me and I don't want to stop painting. This is such a wonderful creative outlet for me and I am sooooo appreciative that people have trusted me enough as an artist to continue ordering shoes. Thank you to all of my wonderful customers!

First Custom Order

So, I was incredibly excited and nervous that a friend of mine ordered a custom pair of painted shoes, for purchase! I had so much fun painting them, so I still can't believe that I can get paid for doing something like this. It's great!

He asked for me to paint his shoes based on this photograph of a sloth:

I never really realized how cute sloths are (at least in this photo). The end result came out like this:

And, this is a close up of the little guy:

Overall, I was pretty happy with how the shoes came out and my friend LOVED them. :D Hooray for making the customer happy.
